What To Do With Weed Stems?

Written and Fact Checked by S. Zulfiqar

They say it is the resourcefulness that matters and not the resources themselves. Considering how brutally we have treated Mother Earth, we are sure that the majority of our readers would be nodding their heads in agreement with this statement. But when it comes down to being innovative in the case of weed, one has to tread very carefully.

There are plenty of other ways in which the weed stems can be used. We racked our brains and came up with some most creative and innovative ways in which you can use weed stems.

Weed Benefits

Weed may sometimes be used for social purposes such as recreation, socializing, and enhancing the quality of life and the feeling of wellness. However, there are many health benefits — this is not an exhaustive list but shows promising potential for improvement in a number of  health conditions.

Seizures

In THC clinical studies, the compound was shown to bind with the cells responsible for seizure-related conditions such as epilepsy and Dravet’s Syndrome.  In some of these studies, the compound was shown to reduce other symptoms like persistent spasms, breathing, speaking issues, and cognitive developmental delay associated with these disorders.

Alzheimer’s Disease

Yearly, many are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and while its exact origins are still sketchy, it is marked by a buildup of amyloid plaque in the brain leading to the death of its cells. In studies, THC was shown to slow down the development of the plaques, thus slowing the brain damage.

Glaucoma

As glaucoma is caused by damage to the optic nerve from pressure on the eyeball, people suffering from the condition may find relief in cannabis.  In studies, it was shown to substantially lessen intraocular pressure in both people with normal pressure and those with glaucoma. In these studies, cannabis derivatives effectively reduced the pressure when administered orally, intravenously, or smoked.

While the results did not surpass existing pharmaceutical remedies, it was free of the side effects common with pharmaceuticals.

Autoimmune Conditions

In a 2017 study, medical marijuana was shown to improve sleep quality and quantity and lessen the pain associated with autoimmune conditions such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

It does this by boosting the levels of the anti-inflammatory protein and decreasing the pro-inflammatory. It has also been found to work as an immunosuppressant and lower the hyperactivity of the immune system that commonly accompanies lupus by activating myeloid-derived suppressor cells.

Why Smoking Stems Is Bad For Your Health?

Before we scare you with some of the side effects that weed stem smokers are likely to experience, let us explain why you should smoke them in the first place.

Weed stems don’t have enough THC that can produce the high you are after! We mean to say, why bother smoking something so impotent in the first place? But let us assume for a moment that you have decided to go fully crazy, and smoking weed stems is the only crazy act you can think of. Well, congratulations, you have just exposed your lungs to inhale the smoke that is most definitely not good news for your heart either. It is a matter of common observation that those who smoke weed stems often fall prey to headaches, sore throats, and incessant coughing.

These and some of the other cannabis smoke side effects can make anyone’s life miserable enough to a point where they will be left regretting their decision of smoking weed stems forever!

What about Seeds of Weed?

At this point in the discussion, some of you are likely to be thinking about weed seeds. Please say they are OK to smoke is the prayer emanating from the heart of some readers! Well, unfortunately, we care about your health. So we must tell you in no uncertain terms that smoking weed stems are off the limits as well. The reason remains the same as it was in the case of weed stems.

There isn’t just enough THC in them! So, no matter how many seeds you consume in one sitting, you are just not going to be high. However, we don’t doubt the eruption of acrid smoke from the heart of the seed can inflict more damage on your lungs than you can imagine!

Don’t Throw Them In Bin, There Are Plenty of Benefits Within!

Hold your horses. Just because you can’t smoke something, doesn’t mean it is entirely useless.

There are plenty of ways in which you can use weed stems to your advantage. Of course, the best utilization of weed stems is to eat them. Don’t believe us? Look up edible cannabis, it is a thing. Also, planting weed seeds and stems is another way in which you can maximize the benefits. Heck, who knows? This might be the start of something big, possibly your stash! Of course, the cultivation of cannabis is subject to certain rules and regulations. But there are other ways in which you can use weed stems as well!

Be Carefree, Have A Sip of Stem Tea

Who doesn’t love a cup of relaxing tea in the evening after a long hectic day? Well, it just got more relaxing! Bake your weed stems, grind them and allow them to steep in hot boiling water for at least 10-15 minutes. Doing this in a tea diffuser makes the process a whole lot easier. Remember, baking the stems is an act crucial to the process.

Make Some Weed Stem Butter

Sounds slightly incredible, right? Well, making weed stem butter is a lot easier than what some of you are imagining it to be like. Again, start with baking weed stems. The ideal time for baking is 45-50 minutes at 107 centigrade. Once your baked stems are cooled down, it is time to grind them. Done with grinding? Now chuck in some butter in a pan, melt it and when it assumes the liquid bubbly form, add the weed stems that are now in the powder form.

After that’s done, use a cheesecloth to strain the mixture. Once the butter has cooled down, you can store the weed stem butter in a bottle. About as easy as making that tea, won’t you say so?

Clever Application Can Lead To Innovation

No matter what you choose to do with your weed stems, it’s important to know that weed is a personal experience. That said, it might be worth having a chat with your primary healthcare provider to see what will work best for you. This is especially important if you are new to the world of cannabis or are considering taking cannabinoids while taking medications or substances.
