Some of you might even have heard the word ‘Kush’ while mentioned in different hip-hop songs. Now it’s time to get some education regarding it as we will tell you everything you need to know about Kush weed. Let’s get started.
There are loads of cannabis types that are classified in plenty of ways. Usually, they are categorized into three different types like Sativa, Indica, and hybrid. But when we dig deeper into knowing what’s more about them, we will find out that they are further divided by a vernacular defined by the famous culture. They include Purple, Haze, and Kush. All these terms refer to different types of cannabis, characterized by their unique flavours, smells, effects, and distinct geographic regions.
Let’s Dig a Bit about Kush
There’s no actual confirmation on the matter, but it is believed that the word Kush is derived from the Hindu Kush mountain range that spans through Afghanistan and the northern areas of Pakistan. It’s one of those few natural places where the cannabis plant grows natively. So it’s safe to say that this weed variety has been descended from the Hindu Kush regions/mountains.
Over the last decade, the word Kush has started to mean that the cannabis strain is of premium quality. In the streets, the high-quality cannabis strains are often called Kush, and hence almost every quality weed has become Kush, especially in the US.
This cannabis genotype is widespread because of many reasons and is loved by both medical and recreational users. It’s a commonly known fact that it’s one of the most potent strains available in the world today. Some popular Kush varieties are Purple Kush, Skywalker OG, Bubba Kush, etc.
A strong Kush Consists of the Following Attributes
Appearance-wise, Kush is often seen having a deep green-coloured plant with sometimes slight hints of purple. In comparison, the hairs (pistils) may look orange or bronze or rusted coloured. Similarly, the buds are visibly denser and chunkier.
The smell of Kush is pretty earthy and sometimes floral, but that depends on the terpenes, of course. So the aroma of the plant ranges, it’s usually is:
- Sweet and incense-like
- fruity and citrus
- Hash spice and pepper-like
- Pine
- Gas
- Herb
- Pungent
The flavour of it is usually floral and grape-like or citric and sometimes earthy and diesel-like. However, smoking or vaping should be pretty smooth. The taste of the strain might not even be the same for two people. That means if you and your friend are smoking the same joint, there is a possibility both of you notice a different taste. All these attributes vary from person to person.
The Kush Effects are Pretty Heavy, Soothing & Relaxing
Kush will surely put a mild smile on the smoker’s face who wouldn’t want to leave their couch. It relaxes you and makes you drowsy. There are a few effects like introspection that make Kush a great help in the meditative industry. As mentioned above, the effects of the strains will also vary from person to person. The same joint can have substantial effects on one person and slight or mild effects on the other person. All these depend on the various attributes of the smokers as well, like age, gender and tolerance levels, etc.
With that said, one must remember that all these attributes may vary as different strains have different growing conditions. The way the strain is grown plays a part in how it’s going to have its unique properties and genetic expressions.
Is Kush Indica or Sativa?
It is widely believed that the original Kush from the Hindu Kush is Indica. At the same time, we know that different strains and other varieties have unique properties and hence different effects. However, what’s for sure is that the true Kush will either be Indica or at least Indica dominant hybrids.
On the other hand, Kush strains that are strong on Indica are somewhat hard to find these days. Most cannabis enthusiasts have shifted towards growing resistant hybrids. But those who are aware of the power of Kush still grow it with higher Indica. All these potent buds are then used and are frequently suggested amongst users to treat conditions like insomnia.
So What does it Feel Like after Having Smoking Kush?
The famous strain is well known for its impressive results, i.e. the effects. The usual effects are soothing and relaxing. You will feel relaxed and giggly at the same time.
The Best Kush Strain?
As far as the best Kush weed is concerned, the consumers think it’s OG Kush because of its extraordinary legacy. Similarly, if you’re after the strain known for the highest THC level, the award would go to Ghost OG. This strain undoubtedly is the strongest Kush variety.
We all are aware that ‘the best’ strain is what’s best for the consumers. And when people say that one strain is the best, it would be the best but only for them. That means that if you’re looking for the best strain for yourself, you should look around and try different stains. Only then will you figure out which strain you like the best or which suits you the most. After all, the best strain would be the one that gives you the pleasure and satisfaction that you expect from it.
Similarly, the best strain shouldn’t be the one with the highest THC level in it. Other things play a massive role in the effects of different strains. For example, the balance of minor cannabinoids plays its part. The terpenes are also an essential factor here. So whenever you’re asked what the best strain is, you should be able to tell that person about all that you know about the plant.
